Man accused of breaking into a woman’s Co Cork home and sexually assaulting her – The Irish Times.

A 32-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged in connection with a house burglary in Co Cork in the early hours of this morning, during which a woman was sexually assaulted and her daughter physically assaulted.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with a total of six offenses in connection with the incident, which took place at a house in the Ballineen area of ​​West Cork at around 4.30am on Sunday, January 12.

On Tuesday afternoon, the man was brought before a special sitting of Clonakilty District Court where he was charged with one count of assault causing harm to a 38-year-old woman and one count of assault causing harm to her 13-year-old daughter.

The man was also charged with two counts of false imprisonment of a woman and her daughter in a home on the same occasion, as well as sexual assault on a woman and burglary with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The man was also charged with a seventh offense in connection with a separate incident where he drove off without paying for fuel at Sheehan’s Garage on Muckross Road in Killarney, Co Kerry, on January 12.

Det Garda Paul Cullen of the West Cork Protective Services Unit gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and told the court that when he arrested the accused at 1.35pm and charged him at 2.58pm he made no response.

Sergeant Tom Mulcahy

said gardaí had applied for remand at Bandon District Court.

Judge John King granted the application and ordered the defendant remanded in custody to reappear in Bandon on January 20 for directions from the DPP. He also provided the accused with free legal assistance.

No bail application was made.
