Maine man dead, Massachusetts and NH women injured after three-vehicle crash on I-95

Authorities say a Maine man was killed and a Massachusetts woman was hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in New Hampshire on Monday. A woman from New Hampshire was also taken to the hospital after the accident.

Colleen Leonard, 56, of Hanson, was hospitalized with minor injuries after she was involved in a three-vehicle collision while driving on I-95 in Portsmouth around 6:41 p.m., according to the New Hampshire Department of Safety. She was later released.

The department said Martin Osier, 62, of Bremen, Maine, was traveling south on I-95 near Exit 7 when his 2010 Toyota Camry ran off the left shoulder of the highway and struck a cement barrier. The car continued on the southbound side of the highway with at least one partially deflated tire.

The department said that about two miles after the first crash – for reasons that are still under investigation – Osier stopped his vehicle in the interstate lane.

Moments later, Courtney Ramer, 31, of Dover, who was driving a 2008 Subaru Legacy, struck the rear of Osier’s Toyota, the department said. As a result of the collision, the Toyota was pushed into a nearby lane.

The department said Leonard’s 2021 Dodge Durango then struck the Toyota a second time.

“The second crash left the Toyota disabled on the traveling portion of the interstate, while the Subaru and Dodge came to rest on the left shoulder near the center median,” the department said.

The department said Osier died after being taken to the hospital. Ramer was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

“There were no passengers in any of the vehicles involved in the incident. No charges have been filed against anyone at this time, the department said.

The department said southbound I-95 was closed and traffic was diverted to exit 3B for approximately four hours. At 10:58 p.m. all lanes were reopened

The department said the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
