1 person killed after fight between friends ends in shooting: Winter Haven Police

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A man is shot and killed after arguing with a friend about money.

On January 13 at approximately 4:37 p.m., police received a report that two friends had been involved in an argument that led to a shooting near Avenue H NW in Winter Haven.

The man who fired the shots, Andre Sequan Harris, 35, remained at the scene. Harris told investigators he and the victim had an argument about money. WHPD stated that Harris then left the victim in the parking lot, but later found him again, grabbed an AK-47 rifle and went to the back of the truck. Harris alleged that the victim approached him with a knife with the blade extended, and Harris shot the victim five times.

The victim was taken to Winter Haven Health but died from his injuries.

A nearby apartment was damaged by gunfire, but no one in the house was injured.

WHPD said it charged Harris with murder (F-1), shooting into a dwelling (F2) and discharging a firearm in a residential area.
