New York State Suspends Kenneth Chesebro’s Law License

On Thursday, the New York Court of Appeals suspended the law license of former President Donald Trump ally Kenneth Chesebro after he reached a plea deal with prosecutors in a wide-ranging racketeering case in Georgia.

Chesebro was there accused last year with Trump in Fulton County, along with 17 other co-defendants, in connection with alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the Peach State. He was charged with seven counts, but pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit false documents. He also agreed to testify in this case.

The court found that the Georgia conviction “categorically meets this state’s definition of a serious crime.”

“Having determined that defendant has been convicted of a serious crime, we therefore temporarily suspend him from practicing law in New York,” the court wrote.

It’s unclear how long the suspension will last, but it was “effective immediately.”

Chesebro is still licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, California, Texas, Florida and Illinois, according to NBC News.

The New York attorney is one of several Trump lawyers whose licenses have been suspended or disbarred in connection with the Georgia case. Jenna Ellis and former Republican New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also experienced such consequences.
