Police said that during Diwali celebrations in the national capital, two people were killed and a third was seriously injured in a shooting that took place in the Farsh Bazar area of ​​Shahdara on Thursday around 8:30 p.m.

The dead included a 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew. The former’s 10-year-old son was injured. The double murder caused panic in the area. The police suspect that the cause of this tragic incident was personal rivalry.

At around 8.30 p.m., Delhi Police received a PCR call reporting firing in the Farsh Bazar police station area, following which the SHO and police officials rushed to the spot. According to eyewitnesses, there was heavy shooting amid the noise of firecrackers.

The deceased were identified as Akash (40) and Rishabh Sharma (16). Krish Sharma (10) was seriously injured by bullets.

According to CCTV footage, the incident took place when Akash and his family were celebrating Diwali and lit crackers outside their house. Two attackers arrived at the scene, one of them was riding a scooter. The one on the scooter got down for a moment and touched Akash’s feet. The person standing next to him then took out a gun and stormed into the house, killing Akash on the doorstep. One of the bullets also hit his son Krish, who was inside the house.

According to witnesses, when the attacker came out of the house, Akash’s nephew, Rishabh, tried to stop them from running down the street. However, during the chase he was shot.

The police suspect that the incident occurred as a result of personal hostility. They detained one of the accused in this case, who is a minor. Police findings show that the accused is well known to the deceased’s family. However, the motive for the murder has not yet come to light.
