Conquest man charged with DWI and unlicensed operation after crash

A Conquest man is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, following a single-vehicle crash in the Town of Conquest. On October 20 at approximately 5:51 p.m., Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident near Bush Hill Road and Spooks Woods Road.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that the driver, Matthew J. Bendixen, had lost control of his gray Nissan SUV, veered into the oncoming lane, then left the road and struck a ditch on the south shoulder. After further investigation, authorities determined that Bendixen was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Bendixen was charged with DWI (first offense), operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08 or higher, and aggravated driving without a license in the first degree, among other traffic offenses. He was processed and released with uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Conquest Court on October 22 at 6:00 p.m.
