Cohasset man arrested for painting a swastika on a political sign

A Cohasset man who allegedly spray-painted a swastika on a political sign placed in the yard of a private residence in the town of South Shore has been charged with vandalism, Cohasset police said.

Frederick B. Laidlaw pleaded not guilty to a single crime of vandalism Court records show he was released on personal recognizance Thursday in Quincy District Court. According to the police, he is 74 years old.

According to police, Laidlaw “entered private property and painted a swastika on a political sign on Wednesday, October 30.” According to the police, the apartment was located on road No. 3A.

Police notified Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell’s civil rights division of Laidlaw’s arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
