A man pleads guilty to murder after the victim died more than five years after the attack

A 25-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering a young man who was left paralyzed and died more than five years after being stabbed.

Jamel Boyce was 17 when he suffered severe brain damage in an attack outside a Sainsbury’s store in Clapham, southwest London, in October 2016.

He was blind, paralyzed and unable to speak and died in a nursing home on February 13, 2022 at the age of 22.

It was determined that the cause of death was a chest injury.

In 2018, his attacker, Tyrese Osei-Kofi, from East Dulwich, south-east London, was convicted of wounding with intent and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

On Friday he pleaded guilty to Jamel’s murder ahead of his trial at the Old Bailey, after previously denying committing the crime.

The judgment will be delivered at a date to be confirmed.
