A Milwaukee man is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase before a crash on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

According to the complaint, the officer was on patrol near 58th and Villard streets when he noticed an orange Infiniti speeding and activated his lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop. The Infiniti stopped briefly but drove into traffic, blocking another vehicle and failing to yield to a pedestrian before the officer could speak to the driver.

The complaint says the Infiniti led police on a chase that covered more than three and a half miles on the city’s north side. Top speed was estimated at 300 km/h, and during the pursuit the Infiniti ran a red light, drove onto the shoulder and weaved between other vehicles.

Prosecutors said the Infiniti lost control as it turned near 91st and Mill. It hit a light pole, which then fell, and then a day care van containing “small children.” Several other vehicles were also struck, and the driver of the Infiniti – identified as Madlock – got out and fled.

A citizen told police he saw a suspect matching the driver’s description running into a nearby yard, according to the complaint, a few blocks from the crash site. Officers responded to the area and found Madlock running and jumping fences, taking off his shirt and reaching into his pockets before attempting to hide behind a house.

Police ordered Madlock to stop running, but the complaint says he did not comply and ripped off his arm when the officer grabbed him and tried to handcuff him.

Court documents show Madlock was the registered owner of the Infiniti. A search of the Infiniti revealed multiple bags of THC “in plain sight,” as well as two digital scales and boxes of clear plastic bags. A gun was found in the glove compartment.
