London police release a photo of a suspect in an alleged hate attack

Investigators from the London Police Service’s (LPS) Hate Crime Unit have released a photo of a suspect in connection with an alleged hate-motivated attack it happened on Saturday afternoon at Ivey Parknear the city center.

Police said the suspect, described as a white man in his 40s, allegedly made derogatory comments about a Muslim man who was staying with his family. He then proceeded to attack the man and remained in the area for approximately 20 minutes before leaving the park on a blue electric bike resembling a motorcycle.

The incident was condemned on social media by the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), London Mayor Josh Morgan and, most recently, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who called the attack “disgusting and unacceptable” on X, formerly Twitter.

According to the police, the victim of Saturday’s incident suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
