Teenager and man killed in Plum Orchard shooting identified | Crime/Police

A teenage girl and a man who were shot in Plum Orchard on Wednesday were identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on Friday morning.

New Orleans Police Department officers responded to the 4700 block of Laine Avenue at 1:11 a.m. Upon arrival, police found 17-year-old Tynarvia Rogers and 20-year-old Jordan Chavez suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced Rogers and Chavez dead at the scene.

Police initially classified the murder as a serious case of battery, but after further investigation it was reclassified as a double homicide.

No other information, including a possible motive or possible suspect, was immediately available. The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
