20-year-old woman on Halloween walk with toddler killed by pickup truck

A Missouri woman walking with her toddler on Halloween died after being hit by a pickup truck.

According to the accident report prepared by the authority for Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to authorities, the collision occurred at 7:32 p.m. local time on Highway B in Granby and the driver was 60-year-old Jeb Hann.

According to the highway patrol, a pickup truck struck Boyer on the side of the road before Newton County Coroner Dale Owen pronounced her dead at 8:41 p.m.

The toddler – also from Seneca – was transported by emergency medical services to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, where he suffered “minor” injuries, according to the accident report.

Authorities said Hanna’s vehicle was towed from the scene with “moderate” damage. CBS affiliate KOAM reported that the Granby Fire Department, Granby Police, Newton County deputies and Newton County EMS responded to the scene and Boyer died at the scene after authorities tried to save his life.

Other local outlets including the NBC affiliate KYTV and local radio station KTTN-FM they were among the first to break the news.

The incident report did not clearly explain Boyer’s relationship with the young child, nor is it clear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Newton County Sheriff’s Office and Granby Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional information on Friday, November 1.

According to KYTV, a fatal accident involving a child had previously occurred in a similar location on October 10, when a boy riding a bicycle failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by an SUV.

The collision occurred on Cole Street near Pine Street, per KOAMand a 10-year-old boy died at the scene after rescuers attempted to save his life.
