44-year-old woman in Ohio was arrested for alleged killing own mother, fatally stab A 72-year-old woman was sitting in a chair.

Authorities announced that Mekeshia Lattimore was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the death of Minnie Lewis.

According to A press release of the Middletown Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:24 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, to a residence in the 600 block of 14th Avenue in reference to a reported stabbing. The home is located approximately 30 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Upon arrival, emergency responders entered the scene and located an adult female victim – later identified as Lewis – suffering from multiple stab wounds. Medical staff immediately took Lewis to Atrium Medical Center for treatment. She died of her injuries shortly after arriving at the scene.

Investigators quickly identified Lewis’ daughter, Lattimore, as the suspected assailant. After the stabbing, Lattimore remained in the 14th Avenue home and was immediately arrested and charged with murder.

Lattimore was processed at the Middletown City Jail, where she had been in custody since Friday morning.

Affidavit of Probable Cause obtained by The Journal-News provided additional context about the circumstances of Lewis’ death.

According to the report, Lewis’ son was also home at the time of the attack and witnessed his sister stabbing his mother.

The brother told investigators he saw Lattimore standing “over the victim while the victim was sitting in a chair” and then noticed his sister’s “hand and arm moving toward the victim,” police wrote in a statement. Lewis’ son said he yelled at Lattimore to leave his mother alone, walked up to her and “observed blood coming from the victim’s neck.”

The son then called 911 and reported the stabbing, informing the emergency dispatcher that the attacker was his sister, who is still at the residence in Newport, Kentucky, Fox affiliate WXIX reported. The station obtained recordings of the 911 calls but determined they were “too graphic” to be played on television.

Lewis reportedly had stab wounds to his face, neck and head. Police did not provide any information about a possible motive.

After her arrest, Lattimore reportedly refused to talk to police investigators. He is currently scheduled to appear in court on Friday afternoon.

Doris Williams, who lived next door to Lewis, he said WLWT, the Cincinnati NBC affiliate, said Lewis was a “wonderful person.”

“She was caring. I can’t stop myself from crying. I just can’t believe she’s gone,” Williams told the station. “I’m really going to miss her.”
