Two 15-year-old New York teenagers have been charged in connection with the latest shooting in the city

In the latest of October’s wave of teen shootings in New York, two 15-year-olds were charged and two more teenagers were killed.

The first shooting occurred on the evening of October 16, a New York police spokesman told USA TODAY.

Someone called authorities about a man who had been shot. The victim, later identified as 18-year-old McNally Zamor, was shot in the head.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and took him to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, where his condition was initially reported to be critical.

The next day, authorities arrested a 15-year-old boy and charged him with attempted second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Zamor died of his injuries nine days after the shooting, and the case is now being considered a homicide, New York police said.

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office plans to raise the charges to a grand jury, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office told USA TODAY on Friday afternoon.

Jones was shot in the torso on October 24. He was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, where doctors pronounced him dead. According to the New York Police, the 15-year-old arrested in the case was arrested on Thursday evening.

Brooklyn teenager wanted to be a songwriter and was ‘so loved’

The teenager who died Oct. 25, McNally, enjoyed writing songs and was “very loving,” his father McNally Zamor Sr. told New York Daily News.

“He graduated from Canarsie High School and wanted to be a songwriter,” his father told the website, adding that he was his youngest child.

As the dad reflected on his son’s death, he told the Daily News he was worried about gun violence in the area, including Canarsie, a neighborhood in southeast Brooklyn.

“Canarsie has always been a peaceful and good place to live,” said the teen’s father. “Now everything has been turned upside down. And the city too – now they are shooting everywhere.”

According to the source, police are not sure what led to the shooting but are trying to see if it may be related to the earlier shooting.
