The FBI searches the home of a pastor’s husband in South Carolina

The FBI searched the home of a South Carolina pastor whose wife, Mica Miller, died by suicide in April.

FBI spokesman Kevin Wheeler confirmed to Fox News that they conducted an authorized search of John-Paul Miller’s home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Friday.

Local outlet Fox Carolina reported that “evidence response teams” were seen entering the home wearing gloves.

The Horry County, South Carolina, clerk’s office confirmed to Fox News Digital that Mica Miller has filed three different “separate support and maintenance” requests since last year – the most recent one filed on April 16.

The Millers’ friend Alicia Young told Fox News Digital that at least 25 FBI agents were at John-Paul’s home for five hours collecting evidence. A collection of evidence included removing fingerprints from doors.

Young said John-Paul left the residence just two minutes before FBI agents arrived “who found and served him at Starbucks.”

“He was not allowed to enter his house while they were there and he remains in custody for questioning,” she said.

The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina is investigating the April 27 death of Mika Miller, 30, of Myrtle Beach.

Mica, 30, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Lumber River State Park in North Carolinathe Robeson County Sheriff’s Office previously confirmed.

The case received wide coverage across the country, and the tense relationship between the couple came to the fore. According to FOX 8 Greensboro, the couple separated and Mica filed for divorce two days before her death.

Robeson County Sheriff’s Office investigators also determined that John-Paul “and the woman with whom he is allegedly romantically involved” were not in Robeson County at the time of Mika’s death.

“Investigators learned from interviews that John Paul Miller was at a sporting event in Charleston on the day of Mika Miller’s death. John Miller’s vehicle was observed driving on the Highway 17 bypass in Horry County at 2:22 p.m. on April 27, 2024.” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “The investigation confirmed that John Miller was accompanied to and from the event in Charleston, South Carolina.”

Mica’s friends and family have been sharing posts on social media with the hashtag “JusticeforMica.”

Local authorities they strongly refuted claims that Mika’s death was a homicide, stating that the evidence of suicide was “clear and convincing”.

In a July statement to Fox News Digital, Mika’s sisters said their sister “was in the middle of a war.”

“Mika was fighting for her life. She was in the middle of a war,” said Mika’s sister, Anna Francis. “She was ready to go to war.”

“We would like someone else to take over this role or take another look at what really happened. Because we don’t believe that everything that happened has come to light,” said Mika’s sister, Destinee Barrientos.

Fox News has reached out to John-Pauls’ attorney for comment.
