Policeman Mo in a head-on collision during a pursuit

A Missouri State Trooper was seriously injured after a head-on collision with a hit-and-run driver early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. when Independence police attempted to stop a driver on Interstates 470 and 70. KCTV-TV reports. A pursuit ensued along Interstate 70, but the driver did not stop.

Once on the exit ramp, the driver turned around and gave chase. The driver’s vehicle collided head-on with a police car.

The driver was taken to hospital, where he later died. An officer in the police car was also taken to the hospital. No details were provided about the condition of the seriously injured officer.

Police are investigating the incident.
