Sundargarh:

Police said six people were killed and five others injured after the vehicle they were traveling in rammed into a truck in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

A senior officer said the accident occurred near Gaikanapali area under Hemgiri police station limits when a van carrying passengers hit a truck from behind.

“Six members of the ‘kirtan’ group were killed on the spot and five others were injured. “The accident may have occurred due to fog in the area,” he said.

The ‘kirtan’ group had gone to Chakkplai village for a Diwali program and the accident occurred while they were returning to their villages.

The deceased belonged to Kandagoda and Samarpinda villages in the district.

The officer added that the injured were taken to a local hospital.
