Minors raped and killed in Alipurduar, Bengal; One accused is lynched, another surrenders

In Alipurduar, Bengal, a girl was allegedly raped and murdered, after which the residents lynched one of the suspects.

According to police, the girl was allegedly raped and murdered after which enraged residents lynched one of the accused in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the Falakata area.

The girl’s body was found in a pond after which the villagers tied a man, whom they said was one of the accused, to a tree and beat him mercilessly, a police official said.

Police rescued a man in his forties and took him to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Another person, suspected of being the next accused in this case, surrendered in front of the local police station.

Angry villagers staged protests demanding justice for the victim and death penalty for the accused who surrendered.

A huge contingent of police was deployed to maintain peace in the area.
