A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbing and stabbing an off-duty Hong Kong police officer in Yau Ma Tei, leaving the victim with multiple knife wounds.

A source said the 39-year-old victim was robbed at around 1.49am on Saturday as he was walking towards Mong Kok after dinner at Knutsford Terrace.

“When the victim reached the intersection of Nanking Street and Nathan Road, the arrestee suddenly emerged from behind the victim and tried to forcibly snatch his wallet from his right front pocket,” the source said.

He said the officer immediately gave chase, but the suspect attacked the victim with an object similar to a fruit knife.
