What do we know about the victims – NBC New York

Two people were killed and several injured on Friday morning a gunman opened fire during a street celebration with thousands of revelers celebrating Halloween in Orlando.

Officers quickly arrested the 17-year-old suspect, Police Chief Eric Smith said during the briefing. Authorities have not yet determined a motive.

The shooter fired in downtown Orlando’s bar and restaurant district around 1 a.m. Officers responded when the costumed celebrities fled, and the same gunman fired again a block away, Smith said.

Here’s what we know about the victims:

A total of nine people were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Two men, aged 25 and 19, died. Their names have not been revealed.

The other victims were:

  • 18-year-old man, shot in the left leg
  • 39-year-old woman, shot in the left hand
  • 24-year-old woman, shot in the left leg
  • A 20-year-old man who suffered a cut to the head
  • 26-year-old man, shot in the right foot
  • A 19-year-old woman was shot in the upper back and cheek
  • A 26-year-old woman who suffered injuries as a result of being trampled

A tenth victim was treated after being trampled by the crowd while fleeing.

The school said in a statement Friday that one of the Halloween participants who died and another was injured were University of Central Florida students.

The university said the shootings “may have impacted many students who were celebrating Halloween or were in the vicinity of the incident.” “Our thoughts are with all the loved ones affected during this unimaginable time.”
