Man arrested for threatening Bihar MP Pappu Yadav, has no links with any gang

Bihar police on Saturday arrested a man from Delhi for allegedly threatening to kill Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav.

The accused, identified as Mahesh Pandey, is not associated with any gang and has confessed to the crime, police said.

On October 28, Yadav had alleged that he received death threats over the phone after he threatened gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in a Gujarat jail.

Talking about Pandey’s arrest, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kartikeya Sharma in Purnea said that he had previously worked with influential people.

“When he came to know that Pappu Yadav had challenged gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, he hatched a plan and threatened to kill the Lok Sabha MP,” Sharma said.

The police also confiscated the mobile phone and SIM card that Pandey allegedly used to threaten the death of the Purnea MP.

Police said the motive behind threatening Pappu Yadav with death was being investigated.
