Today’s NHL picks and best bets

Bet #1: Sidney Crosby to score anytime

+125 at BetRivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins host Canadians from Montreal in the evening portion of Saturday’s NHL lineup. Simply put, there is a positive regression in Pittsburgh’s offense.

Despite ranking 20th in goals per game, the Penguins rank sixth in xGF/60. This expected positive regression will most likely come to fruition against Montreal, a team that is in the top five in the league in goals conceded per game, shots on target per game, penalty minutes allowed per game and xGA/60.

Goalkeeper Sam Montembeault then fought behind the product in front of him. Montembeault has a .891 SV% and 3.67 GAA in seven starts.

This leads us Sidney Crosbywho had his best match of the season. He skates on both the first line and the first power play unit, which are two equally opportunistic ways to score against the Habs.

So it’s no surprise that Crosby has scored four goals in his last 10 games against Montreal.

Bet #2: Rickard Rakell goal at any time

+190 at BetRivers

My thinking here is simple: I’m sure at least one of Crosby or Rickard Rakell he scores points in this game, which guarantees a profit. If they both score, so much the better.

Rakell will skate alongside Crosby on the front line, which will face Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and Emil Heineman. The Canadiens team ranks 311th out of 325 players who will play more than 10 minutes in xGA/60 mode this season.

What’s more, Crosby and Rakell ride together on the first power play unit, which can strike against a Montreal team that ranks 29th in penalty minutes allowed per game. Finally, at least one of Crosby or Rakell’s players has scored in six of Pittsburgh’s last 10 games.

Prop pick #3: Jordan Eberle anytime

+225 at BetRivers

Jordan Eberle played well for The Seattle Kraken in the season, leading the team with six goals in the first 11 games.

This trend is likely to continue with respect to Ottawa Senatorsa team that ranks in the bottom half of the league in goals scored per game, xGA/60, shots on target per game and penalty kill percentage.

Eberle is a threat both at even strength and on the power play, two areas where the Senators have struggled defensively so far. He also scored eight goals in his last 20 games against Ottawa.
