Police are investigating a shooting in Ansonia

ANSONIA, Conn. (WFSB) – Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 27-year-old woman Friday evening.

The Derby Police Department requested assistance around 7:50 p.m. regarding a shooting investigation involving a victim who was taken to Griffin Hospital.

Authorities later determined that the 27-year-old victim, an Ansonia resident, had been shot in Ansonia and then taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The victim has already been transferred to another hospital for further treatment, and his condition is said to be stable.

The investigation is ongoing and police believe this is an isolated incident.

Detectives are actively searching for leads in this case.
