Vicksburg man arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault

VICKSBURG, Mo. (WLBT) – A man is in custody and a woman is recovering from injuries she suffered after a brutal attack in Vicksburg.

According to a news release, shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday, Merit Health River Region reported a man to the emergency room with a stab wound to his upper body.

Minutes later, Vicksburg police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Churchill Drive and Indiana Avenue to search for an assault victim lying in the street, according to a news release.

She was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment. Her condition is stable at the moment.

After conducting an investigation, officers determined that a man and a woman were involved in a domestic violence incident.

Daron Evans, 28, was arrested after leaving the emergency room.

He is accused of aggravated assault using domestic violence. He will be held without bail pending his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
