Hisara woman arrested for extorting money from former minister’s brother

A Hisar woman has been arrested on charges of trying to extort money from the brother of former Haryana minister and BJP leader Anoop Dhanak by threatening him to get involved in a fake rape case, police officials said on Saturday.

Uklan Station House Officer Gurvinder Singh said the woman along with her two aides allegedly tried to extort money from former minister Anoop Dhanak’s brother Satish by threatening him that he would be involved in a fake rape case.

“She was detained when she came to pick up ₹2.30 lakh from Satish Dhanak. She and her two helpers carried out the extortion ₹13.50 lakh from the complainant. The woman was demanding ₹9 lakh from the former minister’s brother, threatening him to file a false rape case against him and his brother Anoop. We have booked the woman and her two assistants who are at large under Art. 308 section 2, 308 section 6 and 3 section 5 BNS,” the SHO added.

In his complaint to the police, the complainant Satish stated that he was taking care of his brother Anoop’s political work and had met a woman from Hisar district two years ago.

“The woman met me through work, and then we met several more times. After some time, she started threatening me to involve me and my brother in a false rape case and demanded me ₹10 lakhs. On May 14, 2023, it was gifted by my friend Satish ₹6.50 thousand She continued to blackmail us and we gave in to her ₹3 lakh in Hisar Court on September 21, 2023 i ₹2 lakh in December 2023. Woman and former sarpanch of Kinala village, Madan Lal, demanded ₹25 lakh from us during the assembly polls when my brother was contesting the elections, threatening to highlight the issue during the elections. Now they are demanding again ₹PLN 9 million,” he added.
