Junior Edwards arrested after mother and daughter fatally shot during home invasion in Burlington County

WILLINGBORO, New Jersey (WPVI) — A Pennsylvania resident has been arrested in connection with a double shooting that resulted in the death of, among others, mother and daughter deceased at Willingboro, Burlington County.

Junior Edwards, 37, of Lansdowne, was charged Friday in Philadelphia, where he was already in custody on unrelated charges.

He has since been charged with first-degree murder, home invasion with a firearm and other related crimes.

The incident occurred when police were called to a home on Harrington Circle after 4 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the bodies of 33-year-old Catherine Nunez and her mother, 54-year-old Marisol Nunez, in an upstairs bedroom.

Both suffered gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Edwards entered the home through a first-story window. Officers also found a gun outside the house.

Authorities later revealed that Edwards and Catherine Nunez had an 8-year-old son. Police said the child was home at the time of the shooting but was not injured.

Officers are not saying what may have led to the home invasion and shooting.
