A teenager is dead and six people injured after a crash in Cornwall | UK news

A teenager was killed and six other people injured when two cars collided.

The fatal hit-and-run occurred in Cornwall between St Tudy and St Breward on Friday evening.

Emergency services arrived at the scene after receiving a report of an accident involving two black Seat Ibiza cars at an intersection at around 11:15 p.m.

Cars collided at a junction near the B3266 road between St Tudy and St Breward in north Cornwall.

A 19-year-old man who was traveling in the front passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene. Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed his next of kin had been informed.

Six injured people were taken to hospital. Their injuries are believed to be minor.

Now an 18-year-old Bodmin man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

He was released on bail pending further investigation.

Following the tragic accident, the road was closed for hours while officers investigated.

They reopened around noon on Saturday.

The service appealed to any witnesses it had not yet spoken to, or anyone with dashcam footage, to share it via its website or by calling 101.
