One person has died and several people have been injured in a road accident in Lagos

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, on Sunday, confirmed the death of an adult male in a multiple accident on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who in a statement confirmed the development, said several other people were injured in the accident.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the accident occurred at Ile-Epo, Oko-Afa, Lagos-Badagry Expressway bus stop.

“The agency, in response to distress calls via toll-free lines 767 and 112 at 09:33, activated its emergency response team from the Igando base.

“After arriving at the scene, it was determined that several cars were involved in the multiple incident.

“The accident involved a fully loaded truck with registration number FFF 754 XB, a white Toyota, a Hummer bus belonging to Cross Country Transport with registration number MUS 210 YJ, loaded to the brim with passengers.

“The other cars involved in the incident were a Volkswagon commercial bus with registration number LSR 166 YE and a Nissan car with an unknown registration number,” he said.

According to him, although an adult man died in the accident, officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) took several other injured people to nearby hospitals.

He added that FRSC officials deposited the bodies at the mortuary before the arrival of the agency’s response team.
