24 injured in head-on collision between passenger car and NJ Transit bus in Union

Police say 24 people were injured when a vehicle collided with a New Jersey Transit bus in Union Friday morning.

According to Union Township Police Director Christopher Donnelly, the crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. in the area of ​​Stuyvesant Avenue and Pleasant Parkway.

“The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction of the bus crossed the double yellow line and struck the NJ Transit bus head-on,” Donnelly said.

First responders from the Union Fire Department, as well as mutual aid from neighboring cities, arrived on site to assess patients. Police say about 24 people were injured, but none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

Donnelly said police closed Stuyvesant Avenue between Stanley Terrace and Pleasant Parkway while the investigation continued.
