Carlos Sainz receives a summons for driving dangerous vehicles after the Brazilian GP

Carlos Sainz was summoned by stewards for dangerous driving after withdrawing from Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

Sainz allegedly breached Article 33.4 of the FIA Sporting Regulations, which states: “At no time shall a car be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be considered potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person.”

The FIA’s summons did not indicate the specific incident for which Sainz was summoned, as the Ferrari driver wanted to get ahead of the pack after starting from the pit lane on Sunday.

He crashed on lap 40 in the mid-sector to trigger the safety car, but as stewards approached his Ferrari with a rescue vehicle, he tried to drive away before his car finally stopped in the afternoon during a dramatic wet race.

The Ferrari driver was summoned to the stewards at 4:15 p.m. local time (7:15 p.m. GMT) along with a team representative to discuss his case.

This call-up for Sainz adds to a busy afternoon for FIA stewards as Nico Hulkenberg was black-flagged for receiving help from stewards after skidding.
