The mum who died in a crash in Bellshill was named Clare Ritchie

Clare Ritchie was a 41-year-old pedestrian who died in a crash in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

The incident took place on Friday at around 9.30pm on Crossgates Street in the city and involved a silver Ford Fiesta.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead a short time later.

Her family described her as a “loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.”

In a statement they said: “The tragedy that occurred on Friday has left us all devastated.

“She will be greatly missed, but we all promise that we will make her proud and keep her memory alive.”

Sgt Andrew Coutts said: “An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
