A Saskatchewan family mourning the kidnapping and murder of their son is asking for the return of his remains after they were stolen along with a truck from a Calgary residence.

On October 29, Shannon Garrioch was in Calgary visiting the father of her late son Allan, who was murdered in early 2020. Garrioch said she was in the process of moving to Calgary.

On October 30, she woke up to discover that her truck carrying Allan’s ashes was missing.

“The ashes are in a cream urn with silver trim,” she said in an email to CTV News. “Any contact is welcome.”

Garrioch said she contacted police, who found some of the contents of her truck in the trash, but not the urn with her son’s ashes.

“We just want to get our son’s remains back,” she said.

On February 25, 2020, Allan Douglas Garrioch, who lived in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, was reported missing after losing contact with his family.

Ultimately, three people were convicted of numerous charges including, but not limited to, murder, forcible confinement, burglary and aggravated assault.

Garrioch’s remains were discovered in the rural commune of Bayne, Sask.
