Shooting in Nanaimo sends 1 person to hospital

One person remains in hospital and a suspect is on the loose after a shooting in Nanaimo Saturday evening, authorities say.

Officers were called to a home on Corunna Avenue in Central Nanaimo around 6 p.m., where they found the victim suffering from “apparent gunshot wounds,” a Nanaimo RCMP spokesman told CTV News, adding that the man was in stable condition.

The suspect fled the scene and has not been found, but police say the shooting was intentional and does not pose a threat to the public.
