A one-year-old girl was found dead in a car after a relative forgot to drop her off at kindergarten

The body of a one-year-old child was found in a vehicle outside the street Florida middle school after a relative allegedly forgot to take the child to kindergarten.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to South Sumter High School around 4:20 p.m. Friday, where they found a 15-month-old child dead in a car. according to the press release.

An investigation revealed that the child had been inadvertently left in the car by a family member.

The unidentified family member was supposed to take the child to kindergarten on Friday, but forgot and went to the middle school.

A few hours later, a dead child was found in the car.

The investigation is ongoing in cooperation with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office. So far, no charges have been filed and no relative has been named.

“This is a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the child’s family,” the sheriff’s office said.

It is unclear why the relative was at the school or what his relationship was to the victim. No names have been released in the case.
