Man from St. Clair Shores accused of trying to run over Harris campaign workers – The Oakland Press

A 55-year-old man from St. Clair Shores was charged in connection with an incident outside the Bruce Post VFW building on Jefferson Avenue, where presidential campaign materials were being distributed.

It is alleged that on October 12, Jason Lynch Lafond went to a tent in the VFW parking lot in search of campaign materials for presidential candidate Donald Trump. A volunteer working the tent explained that it was the Harris/Walz presidential campaign tent that day.

Lafond allegedly shouted offensive slurs, including those targeting sexual orientation. He went on to say that when Trump wins, he will “exterminate” people like them. Lafond returned to his vehicle and accelerated toward the volunteers, who had to jump back to avoid being hit.

Lafon fled the scene.

Police in St. Clair Shores identified the man after a thorough investigation.

The Macomb County Attorney’s Office charged Lafond with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, a four-year felony, and three counts of ethnic intimidation, a two-year felony.
