Voting: Arizona Republic High School Athletes of the Week, Oct. 28-Nov. 2

Here are this week’s nominees for the Arizona Republic Boys’ and Girls’ Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath. Nominations are based on performance in AIA-sanctioned sports. Vote for your top pick in each of our polls below. Voting will end Wednesday at 6 p.m., and winners will be announced the next day on azcentral.com and on Friday in The Arizona Republic. Girls

Kaitlyn Helm, Avondale St. John Paul II, golf, senior: On Tuesday, he won the individual title at the AIA Division II State Championships by four strokes, shooting 9-under 135.

Taryn Janssen, Glendale Prep, cross country, seniors: On Saturday, he won the individual title by 51 seconds at the AIA Division IV State Championships, running the 5,000 meters in 19:29.3.

Kayla Tacker, Casa Grande, flag football, So.: In a 42-0 win over Vista Grande, she recorded six receptions for 88 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown and two interceptions on defense.

Boys

Landon Ashcraft, Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep, Golf, Jr.: On Thursday, he won the individual title at the AIA Division II State Championships by two strokes, shooting 10-under 134, which also helped the Saints win the team title.

Benjamin Benally, Phoenix Valley Lutheran, cross country, Jr.: On Saturday, he won the individual title at the AIA Division IV State Championships, running the 5,000 meters in 16:22.8.

Wyatt Horton, Phoenix Pinnacle, football, senior: In a 41-38 win over Peoria, Centennial threw for 353 yards and five touchdowns on 19 of 30 passing.
