Augusta man arrested after allegedly attempting armed robbery

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – An Augusta man was arrested after allegedly attempting multiple armed robberies, according to arrest warrants.

Gregory Lee Grant Jr., 36, was arrested Wednesday.

According to arrest warrants, on October 29 around 3 p.m., Grant allegedly approached the victims as they sat outside a 2024 Nissan Sentra in the 3000 block of Peach Orchard Road.

The warrant says Grant then pointed a gun at them and demanded his car.

According to officials, there was a brief fight during which Grant handcuffed one of the victims and pointed a gun at his head.

The arrest warrant states that the victim’s brother shot Grant.

On the same day, arrest warrants say Grant allegedly approached another victim while he was in his car, a 2020 Nissan Sentra.

According to officials, Grant pulled out a gun and demanded the victim give him his car.

Warrants say the victim pulled out his own gun and Grant left.

According to jail records, Grant was charged with five counts of criminal attempt and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during a crime.

Records show Grant is being held at the Richmond County Detention Center.
