Jenin resident arrested for blackmailing East Jerusalem woman – Israel News

According to reports, a resident of Jenin blackmailed one of them East Jerusalem woman, taking screenshots of her intimate photos and demanding payment in exchange for not publishing the photos.

The two maintained online contact while the Jenin resident lived there forced her to send an intimate photovia social media. He later threatened to reveal the photos unless she paid him a large sum of money.

Following these actions, the suspect was arrested by investigators from the Office’s Central Fraud Unit (YAMAR). Jerusalem District Policeand his detention was extended many times. It is possible that the prosecutor will soon present him with an indictment.

About a month ago, fraud investigators launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from a woman. According to the complaint and subsequent investigation, the suspect demanded intimate videos from her, took screenshots, and then demanded money in exchange for not distributing the content he had.

The police investigation shows that the suspect habitually took screenshots of the intimate videos she sent, and then began a campaign of threats and blackmail, demanding that additional sexual acts be recorded and sent to him. He allegedly demanded large payments, promising not to publish intimate recordings in his possession.

The police are investigating

The police collected evidence linking the suspect to intimate intercourse, during which, according to reports, he demanded and, under threats, received photos of the woman’s private parts. The evidence found included nude photos of the woman, which she sent at his request, in some cases after threats against her. The suspect, a Palestinian resident of Jenin without a residence permit, was arrested by the fraud unit of the Jerusalem District Police. At the request of the police, his detention was periodically extended.

During a detailed investigation, the police suspect that the woman was a victim of the suspect’s activities, which he allegedly carried out via social media. Investigators recently completed their investigation and gathered sufficient evidence to support serious charges against the suspect. Prosecutors announced their intention to file charges last Thursday, and an indictment is expected in the coming days. His detention was extended until Sunday, when formal charges are expected to be filed.

“This is a serious case involving harm to a resident of East Jerusalem via social media,” said Chief Inspector Oshri Bartal, head of the Cybercrime Unit at YAMAR Jerusalem. “The suspect took advantage of her and violated her privacy. Once we recognized the gravity of the situation, we moved sensitively and professionally to gather any evidence that could lead to his arrest and ensure justice was served.
