Jersey Shore man charged with child endangerment and other charges

A Jersey Shore man faces child endangerment and reckless endangerment charges after he assaulted a child and threatened the child’s mother with violence on Oct. 27, according to Lycoming Regional Police.

After putting the 19-month-old baby down for a nap, the alleged victim asked Seth R. Reese, 23, of 690 South Broad St. on Jersey Shore if he would be willing to get up and take care of the baby if she ran to the grocery store, to which he agreed.

However, video from the child’s baby monitor, viewed by the alleged victim in the store, allegedly showed Reese yelling at the child to “close”complementary“up,” – wrote in the statement.

Court documents say Reese allegedly picks the baby up from under his arms and throws him, causing the baby to hit his head on the crib.

Upon returning home, the alleged victim found the child standing in the hallway crying and screaming, and told Reese never to touch him again.

Authorities said Reese then swung his fist at her while she was still holding the baby and stopped short of hitting her.

After placing the girl back in her crib, Reese lunged at her, only stopping when she hit him, the alleged victim told authorities.

When stopped by the police, Reese stated that “he took his son in his arms and sort of pushed him into the bed” – – court documents said.

Arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter on an additional charge of harassment, Reese waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $35,000 bail.

“I don’t want to make the news,” said a city man accused of arson after his cottage caught fire

Matthew Jon Wagner, 34, of 631 Dunkleberger Road, was charged with two counts of arson after Lycoming Regional Police said he failed to report a fire at his cottage at 397 Bougainville Road.

Wagner told authorities he was burning brush along the riverbank on Wednesday, Sept. 4, when he decided to remove the roof from the property and burn it, the affidavit said.

He stated that he had a garden hose nearby in case the fire got out of control and he was spraying the ground around the fire.

When he noticed smoke coming from the corner of the cottage, he tried to extinguish it with a garden hose and allegedly informed the fire brigade.

“I Almost Died Because of the Smoke” – he told the police, adding that he did “breaking the lung”, – wrote in the statement.

Court documents show Wagner tried to put out the fire until around 6 p.m., when he left without reporting the fire.

According to the affidavit, he returned to the property at 8 p.m. that evening and twice the next day to drain water into the cottage and ensure the fire was extinguished.

Wagner did not visit the property on Friday and only learned about the fire after a neighbor alerted him, he told authorities.

When asked why he didn’t report the fire, he allegedly stated he didn’t think it was a big deal and didn’t want to get in trouble.

“All I could think about was that I didn’t want to make the news.” he said, according to court documents.

Wagner was arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter.

He failed to appear for a preliminary hearing and an arrest warrant was issued.
