Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Grant Street in the city | News, sports, work

Williamsport police and the Lycoming County Coroner’s Office are trying to determine whether a man found shot to death in a Grant Street apartment Saturday afternoon was an act of suicide or homicide.

“Investigators are still determining what really happened in the apartment,” he added. County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. he said late Monday afternoon, shortly after the victim’s autopsy was completed at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

Kiessling identified the victim as Reagan Pyle, 39, of Williamsport, who died in a second-floor apartment on Grant St. 449, where, according to a police press release, officers and paramedics were dispatched around 2:10 p.m. to investigate a report of “shot fired at a person who lost his life in the apartment.”

Kiessling said Pyle lived on nearby Washington Boulevard.

“Officers arrived on Grant Street and found an adult male suffering from an apparent fatal gunshot wound. At the scene of the incident, officers also observed firearms and other evidence,” he added. stated in the release. According to the police, interviews were held with the tenants of the building. The coroner’s office was notified of the death hours after the shooting. Kiessling officially pronounced Pyle dead at the scene at 9:36 p.m

Kiessling said Pyle died from a single gunshot wound to the torso. “The manner of death depends on the outcome of the investigation. “It will be considered suicide, homicide or undetermined,” he said.

District Attorney Thomas Marino said Monday that his office is assisting city police “collecting evidence”, however, he had no additional information to disclose.
