Dodgers star Freddie Freeman continues to give back to his high school in Orange

Some may know this Smarty Star Freddie Freeman attended El Modena High School in Orangehe graduated in 2007. There was a lot in the press about how he recently helped unveil a club he literally helped build with half a million dollars of his own money.

But his contributions and connections to the school go far beyond financial aid.

During the off-season, he still attends school regularly, where he hits balls on the field and practices while his sons and grandfather spend time with him.

“It’s surreal,” several student-athletes told FOX 11. “I watch him practice and sometimes he even gets nervous. He’s just like us.”

The feeling of seeing an amazing player leave your school, especially when you coached him in high school, is “indescribable,” said Josh Kliner, who still coaches at the school. But the camaraderie he builds among student-athletes today is palpable.

“I come to school to play baseball and I do my homework to keep playing,” said one student. “This is where I spend most of my time and this is my family, including Freeman.” And this is a once in a lifetime chance!
