Three people injured in house fire in Lafayette

Three people were injured in a house fire in Lafayette on Friday

According to a Lafayette Fire Department spokesman, the fire department responded to a house fire in the 300 block of Anne Street at noon after receiving multiple reports of a house on fire with possible victims inside.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the entire single-family house was involved. The fire quickly spread to a neighboring house. As firefighters began their search, the elderly woman and her nephew exited through the back door. Firefighters provided them with initial medical treatment until Acadian Ambulance arrived on scene. The spokesman said two passengers were later taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and further evaluation.

The house suffered serious damage as a result of the fire. The heat emitted by the fire ignited a neighboring house. A neighbor’s house was also destroyed in the fire.

Multiple fire crews were dispatched to the scene to assist. While extinguishing the fire, one of the firefighters suffered minor injuries. He was also transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
