The cast of Abbott Elementary will star in the series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

The a highly anticipated crossover between ABC “Abbott Elementary School” and FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” just got bigger. While it has already been revealed that “Sunny” characters will appear on “Abbott” this season, Diversity confirmed that as part of the two-episode event, ‘Abbott’ teachers will also appear on ‘Sunny’ to spend time with the Gang at Paddy’s Pub.

Earlier this month, “Abbott” creator and star Quinta Brunson and “Sunny” star/co-creator Rob McElhenney revealed that the two shows would be teaming up for comedy in a very special episode of “Abbott” (which Brunson previously hinted at San Diego Comic-Con). This pairing made sense considering both series are set in Philadelphia and both air on Disney-owned stations. (“Abbott” was produced by Warner Bros. TV.)

“Sunny” Cast – McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito — have already filmed scenes for “Abbott” episode 409, which will take a full half hour to complete. Olson revealed the crossover crossover on the red carpet Thursday at Varieties Women’s Power event.

“It was a lot of fun,” Olson said of filming the “Abbott” episode, adding: “In a few weeks they’ll jump into our world, which is very exciting. So being on cable and us being on network was really fun for both of our actors.”

Since “Abbot” star Lisa Ann Walter (who plays tough second-grade teacher Melissa Schemmenti) he said Diversity that she asked Brunson to write scenes with Olson’s Dee Reynolds, we asked what requests the “Sunny” star had.

“I was just excited that they got downright nasty,” Olson replied. “They can’t do this at school; they can do it at the bar.

The episode “Sunny-on-Abbott” will air first, and executive producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker revealed that Day’s character will have a “pretty significant storyline.”

“At first it was a bit of a joke that these two shows should cross. On paper it seems like it would be a real tonal mishmash” – Schumacker he said Diversity about the interruption of history. “But then Rob and Charlie came into our writers’ room and we discussed some really general ideas. From there we emailed beat sheets and then an outline. They were a great game in every way. All our concerns about the tone of the shows clashing with each other disappeared as soon as Charlie and I started filming.”

However, it is not clear what the ‘Sunny’ team has in store for the ‘Abbott’ character on their show. Production on Season 17 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia began this fall, with production on the eight-episode season now underway (with plans to return in 2025). “Sunny” had to work around the busy schedules of its stars, including Olson on the new ABC hit “High Potential” and Howerton on the Netflix series “Sirens.”
