Nagpur: Even 24 hours after the alleged attack on Anil Deshmukh, former home minister and NCP (SP), the police failed to identify the four attackers or arrest them.

“I want to tell the BJP that no stone or bullet can kill Anil Deshmukh. But those who attacked me will not be spared,” Deshmukh said on Tuesday evening after being discharged from a private hospital in Nagpur, where he was treated for superficial, minor wounds, possibly as a result of the atonement thrown at his car on Monday evening, in the silence before elections .

According to reports, the attack by the four suspects took place at a dark place near Bel Phata when Deshmukh was traveling from Katol to Jalakheda after the public campaign.

Addressing the media, his party’s spokesperson Pravin Kunte said the attack was a conspiracy by the BJP to harm Anilbabu as they sensed that his Salil Deshmukh, who is contesting for the Katol assembly seat, was definitely winning

Kunte accused Katol BJP candidate Charansingh Thakur as well as deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and MLC Parinay Fuke of conspiring to attack Anilbabu. Asked about the reasons for the suspicions. Kunte said: “The way Fuke quickly responded that the attack was a political stunt by Deshmukh indicated that he was aware that the incident had taken place.

Meanwhile, Nagpur rural SP Harsh Poddar, in a specially called press conference on Tuesday evening, said that an investigation was underway. “We are looking for four suspects who were reportedly pelting stones at Deshmukh’s car while shouting slogans,” he said, adding that forensic experts were also investigating the case.

The city of Katol was buzzing with talk about how Anilbabu had managed to change the situation.
