A man chases away his wife and commits suicide

POLICE in Bulawayo are investigating a sudden death case after a 25-year-old man from Magwegwe in Bulawayo chased his wife out of their bedroom and then hanged himself.

In a statement, Bulawayo Provincial Police spokesman Inspector Abednico Ncube said the Wellington Nyangali contract had a misunderstanding with his wife the evening before.

He said Nyangali had not slept at home the night before.

“At 10:00 a.m. on November 16, Nyangali and his wife had an argument over his lack of sleep at home the previous night. The next day he went into their bedroom and told his wife not to come in because he was changing his clothes, he said.

Ncube said the wife remained outside until she received a call from the deceased’s brother inquiring about his whereabouts.

“She then went inside to check and discovered that Nyangali had hanged himself with a rope from the roof truss. She informed the deceased’s brother who rushed and found his brother’s body hanging from the roof truss,” Ncube said.

A police report was prepared and the body was taken to Mpilo Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Ncube urged citizens to share their problems and refrain from taking their own lives.

“We call on citizens to share their problems with others, involve third parties in case of disagreements, instead of resorting to suicide,” he said.

These developments come as Bulawayo Police recently said that 21 suicide cases had been reported in the last month, of which 20 were men and the remainder were women.

Bulawayo recorded 22 cases of suicide by hanging in a short period of time.
