Driver’s identity confuses officers during accident | News, sports, work

YOUNGSTOWN — A person identified in court and jail records as Willow Eisenman or Jason Tray will be arraigned today in Youngstown Municipal Court on traffic violations after allegedly driving at nearly 100 miles per hour before crashing into a dump truck on South Avenue in Youngstown. Monday morning.

The man will be charged with dangerous driving and obstructing the performance of official duties.

A Youngstown police report states that the officer saw a gray Hyundai traveling north on South Avenue at nearly 100 miles per hour, traveling left of center, swerving into oncoming traffic, failing to stop for traffic control devices or vehicles and forcing some vehicles to run off the road.

The report said there was heavy traffic on the roads as it was 8:11 a.m., which is rush hour.

The officer turned on his lights and siren to warn oncoming vehicles. The report shows officers did not continue pursuing the vehicle because it was too far in front and because of the speed at which it was traveling. Officers noticed that while driving to the city center, the vehicle ignored several traffic lights.

When the officer arrived downtown, the report states, he saw vehicles “scattered” on the South Avenue Bridge, a dump truck carrying heavy equipment and a Hyundai crashed in front of the dump truck. Several witnesses stopped the Hyundai driver in front of the car. The person told the officer that she “liked to drive really fast and that’s all she did.”

No one was injured in the episode. The driver identified herself as Willow Eisenman, but the Social Security number matched the man, Jason Tray of Salem, the car’s registered owner. She said it was her husband, but other documents later showed Eisenman and Tray were the same person.

Officers arrested the driver on a misdemeanor charge and took him to the Mahoning County Jail.

The driver of the dump truck said the Hyundai sideswiped the truck at an extremely high speed, veered left and hit the truck, hitting the passenger side fuel tank, and then went under the right front wheel. The truck was damaged.

Although Youngstown Municipal Court records show Willow A. Eisenman, 24, was charged with reckless operation and obstruction of official business stemming from Monday’s incident in Youngstown, an individual in the Mahoning County Jail with the same date of birth as Eisenman, charged with reckless operation and obstruction of official business, is Jason Tray, 24.

Jail records show the man was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Monday and then released on Monday.
