A video journalist working with a Telugu news channel died in a road accident in Chennai.

According to reports, a video journalist of a local news channel died on Tuesday evening after being hit by a speeding BMW car in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The deceased was identified as Pradeep Kumar, who was a cameraman of a Telugu news channel. He also worked part-time as a Rapido driver, India today reported.

How did the incident happen?

The incident occurred when Kumar was riding his bike and was hit by a BMW on the Maduravoyal-Tambaram Elevated Bypass. The driver of the luxury car abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene of the accident.

Commuters informed the police after spotting the abandoned vehicle, after which officers rushed to the spot and found the damaged bike.

The police confirmed the journalist’s death after the journalist’s body was found 100 meters from the place of impact. India today reported.

Police found his body on the lower level, about 100 m from the accident site. Police said Kumar died when his bike collided with a BMW, which threw him from his vehicle down a hill on the highway.

Police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing driver and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
