Four recently arrested policemen they were released on bail for theft.

The sergeants, all from Barberton, were arrested after allegedly stealing R1.8 million from the home of a zama zama paymaster.

Danisile Mahlangu (47), Mandla Ndlovu (49), Bongani Dlamini (40) and Doctor Zulu (42) all released on bail.

Strict bail conditions announced

There were officers released on R5,000 bail and the case was adjourned to January 29, 2025.

In addition to the bail amount, strict bail conditions were imposed on the officers.

They must not obstruct the investigating officer or any witness and will be confined to the Barberton area.

They also had to surrender their passports.

Officers accused of theft during a search

The quartet are now facing charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice. They are alleged to have stolen R1.8 million from the house of a zama zama payer during the raid.

They also arrested his son and kept him locked up for five hours without charging him.

South Africans are not thrilled with the bail amount

Officers arrested for extortion

In a related article entitled Briefly News reported that seven police officers had been arrested on suspicion of extortion.
