The Little Rock Police Department has identified the victim of Monday’s shooting.

Javier Alvares-Garcia, 50, was the victim of the shooting in the 2400 block of South Pulaski Street, according to a Police Department news release.

On Monday at approximately 5:17 p.m., officers from the 12th Street Division responded to the address for a report of a suspicious vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found Alvares-Garcia unresponsive in a 2003 Honda Pilot with a gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation was conducted, during which detectives searched the area, searched for surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing.
