A suspect has been identified in the fatal stabbing of Professor Haleh Abghari in Colorado

Authorities investigating the murder of a Colorado professor in August say they have identified a suspect who has still not been found.

Local police reported that Haleh Abghari’s body was found in her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in August. statement.

On August 12, police responded to an “unknown distress call” around 7 a.m. and found Abghari, 54, dead with a stab wound, the statement said.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy. Although the cause and manner of death have not yet been released, police say they are treating the case as a murder. The coroner’s office did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for further information.

An investigation led officers to 53-year-old Wilson, and police issued an arrest warrant.

Police have not commented on how or whether Abghari and Wilson knew each other.

Police are asking for the community’s help in locating Wilson, but warned citizens not to approach him because he is considered “armed and dangerous,” the statement said.
